Letter From The PublisherJim Furey, Publisher

I have been threatening to do this for a while and now I am. I realize that I tread on dangerous ground here. I am not out to disrespect anyone or tick off anyone. The topic for this month is colors. For the uninitiated, these are the patches that people wear on their vests or jackets, which identify them as members of certain clubs, organizations or associations. They are not the patches of eagles, Harley-Davidson, Honda, or any of a number of caricatures or others that show an affiliation or former affiliation with a military service. read more

Bad Motor ScooterEvel You'll Always Be Number One

Last year I was at the Wide Open Bike Show (hell I attend the Wide Open Bike Show every year 'cause I think it is pretty cool). While there, I stopped in to say hi to Kevin Cashion and Jay Crooke, the twisted yet creative geniuses behind Pure Evil Cycles, located at 1829 W. Square Drive in beautiful High Ridge, MO. Well after shooting it for a while with these guys, Jay says I have a secret but you can't tell anyone. So I tell him I won't and he tells me he is building a bike for Sammy Hagar, the St Louis favorite. In addition, he says that they will produce a limited number of these bikes for sale to the general public. It turns out this limited number is 100, but I will tell you a little bit more about that later. read more

On Nov. 30 the biking community and, for that matter, the entertainment world lost a truly one of a kind individual, Robert Craig Knievel. Evel, as he was known all over the world, took what was a thrill show event that was seen throughout the USA and made it a lifetime obsession. He would fly a bike, most famously a red, white and blue XL Harley, across a row of vehicles over a canyon or whatever obstacle you could put in front of man from Butte, Montana, and by doing so bring some death defying entertainment to the TV, fairgrounds and drag strips of the world. read more

An Inkling Tattoo of the Month

This month’s tattoo was submitted by Pat Wilson from Okawville, Illinois. He is very proud of it as he should be it has a lot of work. Pat told us that it was done by Lynn McNew who plies his trade at Almighty Studios Tattoos and Piercing on West Main St. in Belleville, IL. Pat is very impressed with Lynn in fact he thinks every time Lynn picks up the gun he gets better and better. These two are currently working on my sleeves and this is the latest addition. You need to check him out, he's running a one man show right now but he’s the best I've seen since Midwest Mingo quit the business, definitely worth checking out!

If you think your tattoo should be here send us a pic and a little info to tats@thebikinglife.com and you never know.
